Walton Moor Sidings represents a typical stretch of busy 4-track mainline which is located in a desolate moorland landscape to be found in various parts of the country. The period modeled covers the transition from steam into the diesel era and provides an opportunity to see scale length trains operating long distance passenger services and local freights ambling their way along the slow lines or calling in the freight yard to marshal their trucks. Another feature of the layout is the single-track industrial line serving the quarries and other associated industries, which have running powers into the sorting sidings. The track-work is PECO fine scale and the buildings are a mixture of Ratio kits and scratch-built items. The signaling will be two or three aspect colour-lights controlled through the point-work. |
