Woolston depicts a truncated branch line in the North of England. The survival of the branch in its present form is mainly due to the mineral traffic from Woolston Quarry. The scene is set in late 1950's / early 1960's, with locomotives and stock from the London Midland and Eastern Regions represented.
The layout started life as three baseboards with some track donated to the club. These have been greatly developed with the addition of a further scenic baseboard to represent the quarry area. Most of the buildings have been scratch built with some using modified kits. The backscene is made up of an arrangement of calendar/picture book illustrations to create the surrounding countryside. The layout features operating signals, level crossing gates and wagons being loaded in the quarry prior to transportation.
